Customer Reviews
The heads of our hand ploughs are forged in little, hole-in-the-wall smithys in South Korea. Insofar as we know, no left handed versions are made. And the tool is a very handed one. So, for our left-handed customers, we take a right handed forging, flatten it, turn it over and re-forge it to suit a Southpaw. (We're told we are the only source of left-handed versions of this versatile tool.)

Best Tools That Money Can Buy
As a lefty, it's been a struggle finding tools that work with me instead of me having to fight to work with them as is customary with most of the tools on the market. Had been looking for a Korean style garden hoe (aka as a Ho Mi) but wasn't satisfied with the ones available through the usual means due to their shoddy materials/manufacturing. Since I live in an area with clay soil & rocks, I needed one of these tools that could withstand all the abuse it was going to be put through without the worry of it breaking on me mid-dig. Enter Red Pig Tools, which I discovered while doing a search for hand forged tools. Upon receiving my order in a few short days, I was immediately impressed with the beauty of the tool alone. The craftsmanship that went into forging this Ho Mi is impeccable. Tool is a pleasure to hold. Nice, solid, evenly weighted piece of metal that is firmly attached by a rivet to the grip-friendly wooden handle that's sanded smooth. Good luck getting this thing to ever loosen up! Last year I helped my neighbor replant hostas in his yard & I used this Ho Mi to dig out the spots for each of them. His yard had never been worked, so it was a definite challenge to see exactly how good this tool was & how well it was constructed. Pleased to report, the hand plow had NO problem going through the hard clay, rock, & tree root laden turf. The Ho Mi plowed through the soil like it was nothing. Upon examination, the tool sustained no cracks in its handle nor any of its metal. Because of my experiences thus far with only one of Red Pig's tools, I have complete confidence in the integrity of workmanship with any of Seth's tools & look forward to being able to replace my cheaper, inferior tools with Red Pig's. If you're of average strength, you should have no problem using this tool for what it's designed to do. It does have some heft to it & because of such will give you an honest workout because it's not made with the usual cheap aluminum most are familiar with.

Loving this tool now following a learning phase
I had first heard of this ancient style tool many years ago and was curious about why it has persisted so long. Upon learning of the availability of a left handed version, I decided it was time to give it a try. I received it last year and since I had no experience in using it, it was trial and error in using it for garden tasks, not always the most successful. This Spring however, everything just fell into place for me for weeding and planting, planting including scooping out holes for seedlings or hilling,, opening a space for single seeds or opening a furrow for a row and firming the soil over the top. A remarkably flexible and efficient tool. Many thanks for recognizing the plight of lefthanders that requires us to adjust in ways that go unnoticed by non-lefties. To paraphrase Robert Frost, by offering a tool feature most often made less available has made all the difference.
