Identical to our largest hand forged trowel except with a deeply cupped blade that is sharpened all the way up both sides making it useful for quickly coring a hole for setting out bedding plants. Unlike most transplant trowels, ours comes without depth markings on the blade surface. Why? Because I've never seen anyone use the depth markings on trowels that have them. Most gardeners can tell one inch from two or three and your bulbs won't croak if you bury them a half or quarter inch too deep or too shallow

Great tool!
Couldn't be happier with this trowel! The craftsmanship and care put into the forging is evident. The weight and balance are fantastic and it's truly a pleasure to use. I had no idea how shoddy my previous trowels were before I used this one to dig and split some lilies. The edge and shape made quick work of what was previously a long and arduous process. Upon placing my order, Seth replied to a special request within hours and also provided some care tips. I have no doubt I'll be using this trowel for years to come.

Great Trowel
This trowel is great for piercing the ground if you're trying to get through years of matted grass or if you have rocky soil that's hard to work because a regular trowel just pushes the rocks further into the ground. I have several inches of loam above clay. I use this to widen the hole in the clay layer and mix in the loam or amendments. Because of the shape of the point it is not the proper tool if you are looking to transplant in loose soil. The point makes it difficult to scoop out large amounts of soil in a deep narrow hole (though it works fine in a wider hole). For transplants or digging a narrow hole I recommend the Bigger Holeabout. It's common that I use this trowel to break through the ground then switch to the Bigger Holeabout to finish digging the hole. The point is good for pulling a line through the top layer of soil for planting seeds.
