A Variation of the Single Tine Cultivator

Cultivators are used overhand allowing the weight of the tool to drive into the ground and break up soil. The single tine cultivator is used to break up soil in tight places. The slight variation, a hand-forged fork at the end of the tine allows you slightly more coverage than the single tine cultivator.

In established flower and perennial beds, you can easily fit this split-tine cultivator between your plants. When you are between crops in your planting season and need to break up the soil or mix in some compost before you put in the next plant, this tool will do the job. Stand beside your rows and reach any area to amend the soil.

The forked end will also double as a weeder- use it to grab and pull or grab and roll the handle away from you. The curvature of the back of the shank acts like a lever to pull the weed out of the ground. It is possible that this tool came about from a flash of necessity-induced inspiration when Bob needed to weed a recently planted, tightly packed bed of two-foot tall mature irises. He couldn't reach into the bed without breaking them or knocking off precious buds. The plantings were too tight for even the most narrow hoe. But not the weed yank on a long handle.

There are two ordering options as there is only one head size for this tool:

Choose a handle length based on your height, 18â€ for raised bed gardening, or order the solid socket head with no handle.
Choose style of connection: forged solid socket (riveted) or tang-and-ferrule (riveted)

The size, shape, and weight of a long handled tool means we must charge an additional $15 shipping fee per tool to our flat rate shipping rate to accommodate for the actual cost of shipping it. Tools that are both long and wide can be quite expensive to ship.

The PERFECT tool for weeding in tight spaces

Was searching online for a single-tine cultivator (hard to find these days), when I stumbled upon this variation. Decided to go for the split-tine, and couldn't be happier! This tool is perfect for weeding between double rows planted along buried drip tape, and really handy for selectively removing weeds between tightly spaced plants without having to bend over. I could not be happier with this tool! Worth every penny
