Samantha has been trying out some new gloves from our friends Tom and Mary over at Garden Like a Girl. And she's enjoyed using them while we try to make more progress on a multi-year effort to return our large backyard understory into a native habitat. (We have more than 15 mature Douglas firs, cedars, and Scotch pines crammed onto less than half an acre, and when we moved into this house a little over 5 years ago there wasn't a single plant growing other than weeds, fungi, and persistent starts of Himalayan blackberry. This fall we have put in another 20 bare root ferns, some additional wild strawberry, Oregon grape, and salal as well as dividing snowberry, salmon berry, and other Oregon natives we've planted over the past couple of years.
Weedies gardening gloves are designed specifically for women, come in six sizes including regular and long finger variations, and use many natural and recycled materials. Based on the designs of performance sports gloves, Weedies have been built from the ground up to include the features that ruggedly feminine gardeners will appreciate. They have Kevlar® finger wraps that reinforce primary wear areas and protect nails and fingertips. They are made of natural goatskin leather, mesh, and elastic with a padded palm to provide overall protection against thorns, blisters, and dirt intrusion. Natural lanolin oils help keep the gloves soft and flexible.
Tom and Mary have set out to develop the best fitting women's garden gloves ever made, and their hard work has culminated in their Weedies gloves. We don't normally offer products without a long proven record to our customers, and Weedies were just launched in 2020, but we do want to help Tom and Mary be successful on their mission. If you need new gloves, we encourage you to try Weedies and give us feedback so we can pass on your experiences to Tom and Mary.
