The forged spades from Bulldog come in a variety of sizes. The two smallest don't have treads and are useful for tightly planted areas, borders, and gardeners who prefer smaller sized tools. At top is the 7" shrubbery spade, below the 9" border spade.

Sturdy Forged Spades

Garden spades, with a squared off bottom, come in a variety of sizes. We now offer the full range of sizes made by Bulldog. These are high quality forged steel spades that round out the hand forged strapped versions that we make ourselves.

From the smallest with a 7" tall blade up to the garden spade with an 11 1/2" tall blade. The digging spade is intended for heavy-duty work around the garden. We also offer the longer 32" handled treaded garden spade for those who need a bit more length, and an option for a 48" straight handle. The two smaller size, known as the border and shrubbery spades, are great for digging in tightly planted spaces, confined borders, and for those who prefer a smaller tool.

The solid forged heads extend practically half-way up the handle making the tools extra durable where they need to be. Like us, Bulldog uses Ash to make their handles. In addition, the wood is steam bent near the top to create the D shape for a nice grip, when you want to do a twisting action
